We are pleased to share that Demographic Anxiety in Turkey, the new book by our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Serhun Al, co-authored with Assist. Prof. Sefa Secen, has been published by Edinburgh University Press.

 

Our faculty members and graduate students participated in the 5th National Congress of Political Science, organized by the Turkish Political Science Association at Çukurova University on 19-20 September 2026.

As part of the 2026 Rectorate Research Awards, our faculty member Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Kentmen Çin received the Competitive Research Funding Award, while Assist. Prof. Dr. Umut Can Adısönmez was honored with the Rising Researcher Award.

In the education awards category, BUS 495, a faculty-wide course previously taught by our faculty member, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serhun Al, received the Innovation in Education Award, which was collectively presented to the Faculty of Business.

Our faculty members Prof. Dr. Filiz Başkan and Assist. Prof. Dr. Benal Nazlı Üstünes Demirhan participated in the 19th Pan-European Conference on International Relations, organized by the European International Studies Association (EISA) in Lisbon.

Our faculty member Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Kentmen Çin and Dr. Nil Dikmengil have published their article, “European Public Support for EU’s Policy of Welcoming Ukrainian Refugees: Realistic and Symbolic Group Threats,” in the Journal of Immigrant & Refugee Studies.

The 13th edition of the 'EWIS 2026' workshop, organized by the European International Studies Association (EISA) and bringing together approximately 450 academics from various countries, was hosted by Izmir University of Economics (IUE). 

We are pleased to announce that the book chapter titled “Emerging Disruptive Technologies and the Problem of Awareness Gap: Challenges and Remedies” by our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sıtkı Egeli has been published in Implication of Emerging Threats for the Security of NATO and GCC, published by Palgrave Macmillan. 

Asst. Prof. Dr. Umut Can Adısönmez from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), has been awarded the “2026 Young Scientist Encouragement Award” by the International Relations Council (UIK), one of the most prestigious honors in the field.

Our faculty members and PhD students participated in various panels and sessions at the XI International Relations Studies and Education Congress, organized by the International Relations Council of Turkey (UIK) on 7–10 May 2026.

We are pleased to announce that our faculty member Dr. Umut Can Adısönmez was granted the 2026 International Relations Council (UIK) Young Scientist Encouragement Award.
