We are pleased to announce that the book chapter titled “Emerging Disruptive Technologies and the Problem of Awareness Gap: Challenges and Remedies” by our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sıtkı Egeli has been published in Implication of Emerging Threats for the Security of NATO and GCC, published by Palgrave Macmillan.
The chapter examines the implications of emerging disruptive technologies (EDTs) for international security, with a particular focus on developments observed during the Russo-Ukrainian War. It discusses the use and impact of technologies such as hypersonic weapons, cyber warfare, unmanned systems, artificial intelligence, and counter-space capabilities.
The chapter also highlights the “awareness gap” surrounding EDTs and reflects on the risks of exaggerated threat perceptions in security policy. In this regard, it underlines the need for stronger technical literacy, interdisciplinary expertise, and policy-oriented analysis in addressing the challenges posed by EDTs.
